CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF WEST TENNESSEE (CCWTN) seeks an experienced, ministry-focused executive to carry forward its mission of service to our community’s most vulnerable neighbors regardless of their religious beliefs, socio-economic status, or ethnic background. The Executive Director of CCWTN will be based at the organization’s headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, but will have responsibility for overseeing its efforts to end hunger and homelessness throughout the Catholic Diocese of Memphis, which reaches from the Tennessee River west to the Mississippi River. A key driver for CCWTN is volunteerism and community partnership. Thus, we seek a person who will lead the collaboration of individuals, families, businesses, schools, and churches that has brought hope and dignity to the people of West Tennessee since 1971.
POSITION OVERVIEW.
The Executive Director of CCWTN is a full-time professional appointed by the Bishop of the Diocese of Memphis and supported and supervised by a diverse and knowledgeable Board of Directors. The Executive Director is an active and engaged Roman Catholic dedicated to cooperating with the Bishop in implementing the social teachings of the Catholic Church in West Tennessee The Executive Director is responsible for the management and operation of all programs and services provided by CCWTN, including the hiring, supervision, and development of its staff, recruitment and development of its volunteers, and cooperation with its partners in ministry.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that the mission and vision of CCWTN are carried out effectively, efficiently, consistently, and collaboratively with parishes and other community partners while seeking opportunities for growth and expansion of ministries.
Oversee and manage the fiscal aspects of CCWTN including fund development, financial management, budgeting, salary scales, benefits, and record keeping, while making appropriate delegation of responsibilities to financial staff and overseeing staff performance.
Work closely with CCWTN staff to ensure program integrity and effectiveness; to establish priorities, to ensure that existing programs are affordable, sustainable and align with the mission and goals of CCWTN.
Assure that CCWTN makes consistent and timely progress in achieving its mission and targets established in collaboration with the Bishop and the Board of Directors.
Represent CCWTN in the parishes and community building strong relationships and supporting development activities.
Engage regularly with staff, clients, donors, and volunteers at the main campus of CCWTN and throughout the diocese.
Meet regularly with the Board of Directors and collaborate with the Board to sustain the mission and growth of CCWTN.
Identify new service needs and opportunities and evaluate them in terms of mission compatibility, funding, staffing, sustainability, and capacity for implementation.
Demonstrate good stewardship of CCWTN resources.
Hire, manage, evaluate, and develop staff.
Be prepared to terminate ineffective staff as needed in a manner consistent with CCWTN policies.
Ensure CCWTN representation and participation in appropriate religious and civic activities, groups, and community organizations.
Engage with government officials to promote policies that align with mission and Catholic social teaching.
Represent the Bishop at various functions, organizations, and committee meetings at his request.
Actively seek opportunities to communicate the mission and activities of CWTN in a variety of public forums.
Ensure that CCWTN maintains its strong Catholic identity.
Establish goals, objectives, and operational plans with the Board of Directors, staff, and other leaders.
Communicate regularly with the Board of Directors concerning developments, challenges and opportunities presented to CCWTN.
Implement strategic plans and other directives approved by the Board of Directors.
Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of CCWTN properties within budgetary limitations and make the Board of Directors aware of unfunded maintenance concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Bishop.
Perform general management duties not otherwise described her to ensure the successful operation of CCWTN.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Active, engaged, and practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church, knowledgeable of the social teachings of the Church, and committed to service the Diocese of Memphis in Tennessee.
Master’s degree in public or nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
Five or more years of experience in managing a multi-service, non-profit organization providing social services or related experience in a for-profit setting.
Experience in identifying, obtaining, and managing grants to ensure ongoing funding support.
A proven record of collaborating with other non-profits in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
An accessible and approachable personality, respectful of all persons, dedicated to fostering constructive relationships with staff, volunteers, clients, and donors to ensure optimal outcomes for all concerned.

COMPETENCIES
Ability to understand and use financial reports.
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (preferred).
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
