What It's Like: At T-Mobile, our Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC) and Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) work tirelessly to protect our network, data, and customers from advanced cyber threats. We are constantly innovating with automation and scripting to improve our incident detection and response capabilities. As an intern, you'll join a collaborative team that values new ideas, rapid execution, and the constant pursuit of improving security operations. What You'll Do: As a Cybersecurity Automation Intern, you will directly contribute to the optimization of our security operations by creating automation playbooks and custom scripts in Cortex XSOAR. Your work will help streamline processes, reduce response times, and improve our overall security posture. Past interns have played vital roles in automating routine tasks, enabling our analysts to focus on more complex threats-you will have the same opportunity to make a real impact. Key Responsibilities: Develop and enhance automation playbooks in Cortex XSOAR to improve the effectiveness of CSOC and CIRT operations. Create custom scripts to integrate security tools and automate repetitive tasks, enhancing incident response workflows. Work with SOC analysts and incident responders to identify pain points and design automation solutions that address them. Test, troubleshoot, and optimize automation workflows to ensure reliability and efficiency. Document playbooks and automation processes for future use and continuous improvement. What It Takes: Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or Bash, and an eagerness to learn and work with XSOAR. Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts like threat detection, incident response, and SOC operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on automation and efficiency. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive attitude towards learning and contributing. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with security orchestration tools like Cortex XSOAR or a willingness and capability to quickly learn. Experience working with REST APIs and integrating different security platforms. Knowledge of data formats like JSON and the ability to parse and manipulate data within scripts. Understanding of agile methodologies and experience with project management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
