We are seeking a skilled Class A CDL Driver to operate tractor-trailers and transport materials efficiently and safely. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to quality and safety standards. Candidates will play a key role in handling warehouse tasks, including the inspection and processing of materials, while working as part of a cross-functional team. It is 4 month contract.
Pay Rate: $20-$25/hr
Position: Class A CDL Driver
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Saturdays when needed 7:30am – 5:30 PM
Location: Chester, VA
Requirements:CDL Class A License: Must have experience with flatbed, lowboy, and step deck/double drop trailers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate Class A CDL tractor-trailers, including flatbeds, lowboys, and step deck/double drop trailers, to transport materials between warehouse locations.
- Completed efficient round-trip deliveries, maintaining an average of a 25-minute commute per trip.
- Conducted loading and unloading of materials, ensuring safe and secure placement on trailers.
- Inspected products before loading and after unloading to verify condition, count, and compliance with transport requirements.
- Followed all company and safety protocols during loading, unloading, and while in transit.
- Communicated with warehouse and dispatch teams to ensure timely deliveries and pick-ups.
- Maintained a clean and organized vehicle, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle was in optimal working condition.
- Documented and reported any issues with materials or equipment to the supervisor promptly.
Skills/Abilities:
- Track and Trailer Experience: Demonstrated ability to handle various trailers and understand load distribution.
- Load Securing: Familiar with chains, binders, and securing heavy equipment onto trucks and trailers. Must know how to properly tarp and secure loads.
- Manual Logbooks: Ability to fill out manual logbooks (ELD systems are not used).
- Load Calculations: Familiar with height, weight, and load capacities for different trailers and trucks. We can assist with this knowledge if necessary.
- Safety Compliance: Must provide a current DOT physical medical card and a valid driver's license. Clean driving record and background check required.
- Steel-Toed Shoes Required: Must be worn from the first day.
