Job Description
Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to drive a gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer to transport and deliver products and materials in loose or packaged form to and from our Springfield, Ohio facility. M-F, 3am-12pm schedule.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers’ needs.
· Arrive on time for dispatch to ensure material arrives to the customer or internal customer in a timely manner.
· Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits the report indicating the truck condition. Must conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
· The driver is responsible for proper load securement and tarping.
· Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Delivers material in a timely and efficient manner.
· Maintains Zonar electronic, on-board recorder according to FMCSA and DOT regulations.
· Complete proper paperwork, packing lists, bills of lading, trip envelopes, etc.
· Interact with customers in a respective manner to positively represent the company.
· May perform or assist workers in loading and unloading truck.
· May assist Transportation Manager or department in other duties and special projects.

· Transportation: Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
· Safety and Security; Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety for the protection of people and property.
· Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as tractor-trailers, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
· Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material: Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
· Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
· Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
· Communicating with Persons outside Organization: Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
· Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards: Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
· Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic and its application.
· Tools: Electronic logs, tractor/trailers, personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses, etc.), and company issued cell phone for business use and communication.
Qualifications
· This particular position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); some work-related experience, an appropriate commercial driver’s license(s) to operate assigned vehicle(s); and a satisfactory driving record.
· Ability to pass DOT physical.
· Must have Class A CDL.
· Insurability for driving purposes.
Preferences
· Previous experience securing loads on trucks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Working Environment and Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be in a stationary position and move about the buildings. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and be able to communicate verbally and in writing and take direction. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will frequently be required to operate truck, forklift, and crane equipment as well as use eye-hand coordination. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. During busy periods, the employee may be required to work overtime to complete all deliveries. Driving in inclement weather may occur.
