Job Title: CDL Driver

Position Summary: Primarily responsible for driving independent living residents to medical or personal appointments, to events or activities or on campus using BSF vehicles, including sedan, van or bus. Transport Healthcare/PC residents to appointments or activities as necessary. Transport of employees to/from Baptist Homes campus. Provide excellent customer service so residents will get to and from scheduled destinations on time and safely. Maintain accurate documentation in an organized manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plans routes and coordinates and maintains open communication with transportation coordinator.
  • Adheres to time schedules. Picks up or drops off residents at designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Assists residents in and out of vehicles and with door to door drop off or pick up as necessary. Utilizes resident lift on bus as necessary.
  • Assists with the loading and unloading of packages as necessary. Secures wheelchairs or packages as necessary.
  • Exhibits excellence customer service; is courteous and professional with residents. Keeps passengers informed of possible delays.
  • Obeys traffic laws and local, state and federal transit regulations. Follows procedures to ensure passenger safety.
  • Refuels vehicle as needed. Keeps vehicle clean, e.g., vacuums/cleans inside regularly and schedules/maintains car washes.
  • Performs daily visual inspection of vehicle and reports needed maintenance items on a timely basis. Properly completes incident or accident reports when necessary. Maintains logs or other records as requested.
  • Participates in the QAPI Program as needed. Makes recommendations as needed if areas of improvement in transportation are needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one-year related driving experience or combined education/training and experience.
  • Valid PA Driver's License with good driving record.
  • Experience presenting information in one-on-one situation to a resident, resident representative or staff member. Listening skills include being able to follow directions and interpret concerns.
