About the job Dental Assistant Dental Assistant FCL EstillWork Location:Federal Correctional Institution & Satellite Prison Camp100 Prison RoadEstill, South Carolina 29918Clearance Requirements:National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check with fingerprints.Type of Work: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.Estimated Pay: $27.00/hour.Travel: No travel is anticipated for this effort. Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision Pay Time Off: Up to 80 hours per year with accrual from day of hire.Sick Leave: Up to 56 hours per year with accrual from day of hire.Paid Federal Holidays:Eleven (11) paid federal holidays.Estimated Start Date: 01 February 2025Schedule:The contractor will work Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period. A session will be equal to one (1) hour. The Dental Assistant's schedule shall not exceed an estimated 40 hours per week. Not overtime is authorized.Attire:The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.Qualifications:The Dental Assistant shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant School.Training must include Dental Radiology and Radiology Safety. The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Have a minimum of one (1) year of experience providing Dental Assistant Services. Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.Duties and Responsibilities:The Dental Assistant shall be totally familiar with four-handed dentistry with respect to all technical methods and procedures at this institution. He/she must also have an excellent working knowledge of instruments, types of restorative materials and methods used for the purpose of making impressions. The Dental Assistant will be required to assist the dentist in oral surgery, operative dentistry, removable prosthodontics, radiology, endodontics, preventive procedures, and clerical duties. The duties of this position also require frequent direct contact with individuals in confinement who are suspected or convicted of offenses against the criminal laws of the United States.Oral Surgery:Seat the patient.Prepare anesthetic. Place topical anesthetic.Set up and break down the surgical tray.Evacuate the surgical field.Retract tissue(s).Irrigate bone during rotary instrumentation.Remove sutures.Apply appropriate medications as prescribed by the dentist.Give post-surgical instructions.Take radiographs of the surgical site when directed.All other tasks as designated by the CDO.Operative/Restorative:Seat the patient.Prepare anesthetic. Place topical anesthetic.Pass instruments, retract tissues, irrigate oral cavity, and operate aspirator.Set up and break down the operative/restorative tray.Proficient in placing and removing the rubber dam.Place bases and liners.Place matrices.Evacuate the operative field using appropriate evacuation techniques.Select tooth shade for composite restorations.Place temporary fillings.All other tasks as designated by the CDO.Removable Prosthodontics:Select appropriate trays and impression materials.Make preliminary impressions for study models.Pour up preliminary impressions.Fabricate custom trays.Perform minor denture/partial repairs.Select tooth shade for removable prostheses.All other tasks as designated by the CDO.Endodontics:Seat the patient.Place and remove the rubber dam.Set up and break down the endodontic instrument tray.Take radiographs as designated by the dentist.Properly evacuate the endodontic field.Properly mix bases, medicaments and irrigates used during the endodontic procedure.Provide post-operative instructions.All other tasks as designated by the CDO.Radiology:Obtain diagnostic quality periapical, occlusal, lateral, TMJ, and panographic radiographs;Process and save digital radiographs to patient dental records;Be able to identify and correct improper radiographic outcomes;Preventive:Perform dental and periodontal charting.Provide oral hygiene instruction.Apply fluoride and desensitizing agents.Supplies:Advise the CDO when stock levels of expendable supplies used in the dental clinic are below prescribed levels.Contact vendors for pricing information.Prepare purchase order forms.Store supplies once received from the vendor.Maintain the supply room in an orderly manner.Clerical Duties:Submit callouts.Answer phones.Schedule patients.All other clerical duties as designated by the CDO.General Duties:Clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments.Perform daily inspection of equipment and make minor repairs.Report defective equipment or utilize corrective action.Perform periodic maintenance on dental equipment.Follow proper infection control procedures.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Competitive Compensation package Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision options.Outstanding career growth potential.ABOUT US:Fidelity Partners is a Inc. 5000, USA company that provides medical, technical, logistical, and administrative services to the federal government and commercial Clients across the country.
