Summary
The Lead Janitor is responsible for the overall supervision and implementation of base janitorial service and general supervision of the assigned team.Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with APSI's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintains 95% standards of cleanliness within assigned tasks, which includes:hard floors, carpeted floors, removal of trash, complete low and high dusting programs. Must be able to utilize cleaning products, chemicals, vacuums, mops, wringers, dust tools, and floor machines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
The Lead Janitor provides leadership and guidance to ensure work performed meets the Governments' and AKHI, Inc.'s standards of performance.
Minimum Qualifications
Pursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, preference will be given to qualified Ahtna Native Corporation Shareholders, Descendants, and Spouses in all phases of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
- Manage and monitor the janitors assigned to the shift to ensure safety, quality control and responsiveness.
- Assists the Project Manager in conducting on-the-job training for janitors in a professional manner.
- Sweep/dust mop uncarpeted floors, vacuums carpets and rugs, cleans mats, spray clean and buff floors, wet mops, strip coat, buff, deep cleans carpets and rugs, cleans under raised floors, Hose down, scrub, squeegee/mop, Moves furniture that can be moved and dust and mop, Strip floors and baseboards when needed, Clean (wipe down) doors, furniture and equipment as needed to establish process and procedure, conserve cleaning supplies.
- Maintain assigned equipment in satisfactory and working condition
- Read and be able to understand correct dilution rates for cleaning chemicals.
- Follow all facility safety policies and procedures.
- Comply with all City, State, and Federal agencies requirements.
- Make all decisions based on safety first.
- Read and fully understand the "Material Safety Data Sheets" (MSDS) for all chemicals and solutions used in our processes and procedures
- Treats all employees, client staff, and vendors with respect.
- Directs corrective action when necessary.
- Reports any personnel, quality or safety problems to the Chief Engineer if correction requires personnel action or modification to policies and procedures.
- Models' safety awareness on the job.
- Ensure that employees receive keys and required supplies to perform their duties.
- Promotes teamwork.
- Communicate in a manner that promotes teamwork, while briefing the oncoming shift of what needs to be performed.
- Utilizes proper body mechanics while performing duties.
- Ensure coverage by calling on-call employees as required.
- Adheres to established "Universal Precaution/Bloodborne Pathogen Standards"
- Maintain and utilize the proper personal protective equipment for the task being performed.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Abide by work schedules and attendance policies.
- Ability to work with or without minimum supervision.
- Capable of assuming the chain of command and be able to understand and implement all aspects of the contract.
- Ability to provide support to all patient areas is also required.
- Work area includes all areas of the facility.
- May be exposed to industrial chemicals.
- Support management
- Performs other duties as assigned by management and/or supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
- Requires a Minimum of one years' experience as a Housekeeping Aid or equivalent training or experience Must have 3 months of general experience of progressively responsible housekeeping/sanitation or other work that applies particular knowledge and skills to perform the position.
- Current valid Driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance and the ability to travel to local facilities.
- Have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Must possess skills to read, write and comprehend English.
- Knowledge of janitorial methods, practices, materials, tools, occupational hazards and safety precautions of the janitorial work.
- Must have knowledge and supervisory skills necessary to plan daily work and motivate employees to successfully perform assigned duties.
- Must have the ability to manage time efficiently, work with multiple supervisor and managers, as well as maintain schedules.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working within a team environment and outsourced support teams.
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Must have computer experience
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrates good customer relation's skills. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must be capable of lifting to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass both required criminal background check and pre- employment drug testing.
- Ability to pass a background and or Govt. security clearance
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
