Job Description:

The employee drives and manages the development of schedules and determining priority of manufacturing jobs for a single department or group of departments, seeing that various parts and assemblies needed for fulfillment of different contracts are produced according to schedule. Working from the schedule and from planning documents, plans jobs to support customer deliveries. Develops capacity planning models at various levels of planning and works closely with Production, Procurement and Sales to ensure steady flow of kits to meet build schedules, while meeting customer commitments and forecast consumption. Works with Engineering to incorporate new product development requirements into planning schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support scheduling and determining priority of manufacturing jobs for a single department or group of departments towards establishing a pull system; ability to respond well to changes in demand
  • Support NPD projects to ensure higher win rates and timely execution through proper planning and cross-functional collaboration and communication
  • Creating and maintaining detailed master production and material plans for the product line to use in driving Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and planning production capacity to support SIOP
  • Runs and controls MRP in order to guarantee the required production flexibility and reach the targeted inventory levels
  • Analyzes plans, planning documents, modification planning data, in order to apply proper time spans for processing materials, parts, and assemblies and to meet required delivery dates.
  • Reschedules work flow to reflect shifting priorities of departmental loading for determination of whether overtime, staffing level changes, or subcontracting are required.
  • Coordinates with purchasing to obtain and schedule materials based on backlog and production schedules. Identifies and communicates shortages for the entire backlog over a frozen period (depending on the area)
  • Coordinates with Operations to resolve difficulties related to shop loading; also works in concert with Procurement as needed to facilitate inventory levels and optimization initiatives
  • Manages raw materials inventory levels; drives and maintains inventory accuracy through cycle count based on ABC grouping of part numbers.
  • Follows and audits the physical progress of materials or goods to insure conformance to schedule
  • Provides status of orders to customer service and management.
  • Develop and maintain necessary records and documentation in compliance with ISO system requirements
  • Works as a liaison between Procurement and Assembly, Machine Shop and Assembly and Procurement and Engineering/ Production to maintain an uninterrupted flow of required materials.
  • Through supervision of team members in stockroom and planning, ensures the development of capacity plans at various levels of planning and flow of clear kits to production to support backlog and meet overarching metrics including on time delivery and optimal inventory levels
  • Performs tasks equal to or exceeding established standards while keeping quality up to acceptable standards.
  • Works overtime, and travels as required.
  • Supports Operations and Quality in critical areas as required or when available


Skills and Requirements:

  • Applicant must be ITAR compliant
  • Ability to react to changes productively and perform other essential tasks as assigned
  • Be team oriented and possess flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Good understanding of, and experience with inventory management, Kanban systems, safety stock, cycle count
  • Thorough and in-depth knowledge of ERP Systems (Syteline would be a plus), Master Production Scheduling, Production Planning, and Capacity Planning
  • Good understanding and experience with backward and forward scheduling
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to manage a team of 4-10 team members effectively towards business deliverables with a focus on stockroom and planning
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with all levels of the organization
  • Work consistently to meet the Company’s objectives and traveling as required
