Where You Will Work
Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description
Under general supervision, assists in providing operational and technical advice and guidance for designated mobile crane support group at assigned sites.
- Assist in the development and training of employees in mobile crane operations
- Assist in the planning and preparation for scheduled jobs
- Assist site management by actively participating in the company's safety programs, including behavioral audits, JSA's, SOP's, Near Miss Reporting, Metals and other programs determined by management
- Assist management in complying with policies and procedures and environmental compliance
- Understand cost control and assist in the development of department operating maintenance and capital budgets
- Participate in the mentoring process for all new Mobile Crane Operators and Apprentices
- Serve as a member on the selection panel for Certified/Master Mobile Crane Operators
- Perform other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Journeyman Maintenance Technician/Mobile Crane Operator certification or license and Completion of an Apprenticeship Program and four (4) years of experience as a Mechanical Mobile Crane Operator in a related industrial maintenance/construction field working on a large mobile crane (150 ton and greater capacity), OR
- Associate's degree in a Mechanical field or closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Mechanical Mobile Crane Operator in a related industrial maintenance/construction field working on a large mobile crane (150 ton and greater capacity)
- Passed the Certified Crane Operator Practical exam
- Candidate shall pass the Hands-on test
- Completed DDI and TEAMS training or equivalent
- Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Extensive experience in and knowledge ofrigging procedures, cable reeling and crane load testing
- Extensive experience with and knowledge of mobile crane preventative maintenance practices and inspection procedures
- Working knowledge of Hydraulic equipment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and advanced computer skills
- Skills and ability to work in an environment with minimal direction
- Ability to pass an annual physical (to include color recognition and depth perception)
- Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, blueprints and schematics for trouble shooting and repair in English
- Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime at a 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year operation.
- Possess a good safety and attendance record
- Ability to show up to work as required and on time
- Must be eligible for transfer/promotion as per the Guiding Principles (internal candidates)
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $29.00 - $39.50 hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
