Job Description:

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for driving analytical thought process as it pertains to industry best in class merchandising .This individual will serve as an SME in the various applications utilized by the merchandising department to assist in driving growth at the stores; utilizing analytical skills to drive sales, optimize assortments, and maximize profit. The overall goal of the Senior Business Analyst is to develop and champion solutions as they pertain to merchandising initiatives both at the SSC and store level. Up to 20% travel required.

Responsibilities:

  • Maximizes inside store profitability through data-driven analysis and evaluation of functionality, highlighting areas for improvement and expected benefit of assortment and space-based strategies.
  • Serves as subject matter expert of RaceTrac's space management processes and demonstrate expertise in analytical tools such as Excel, PowerBI, or SQL, to effectively execute strategies and tactics.
  • Creates and distributes reports to Senior Leadership on key strategic initiatives/products, as well as tactical reactions to changing conditions. Provides regular updates to management on these key initiatives/products.
  • Utilizes performance metrics such as days of supply, turns, margins, and sales to identify potential opportunities and drive recommendations to improve sales and productivity of space.
  • Leads planogram creation through data driven analysis, quantifying assortment and space opportunities.
  • Creates cluster or store specific planograms based on initial assortment plans. Ensures planograms align with corporate, department, and category strategy.
  • Collaborates with Category Management to determine goals and objectives, conduct standard and ad hoc analysis to identify key drivers of performance, recommend assortment and space decisions that will improve category performance and develop financial plans that reflect category changes.
  • Identifies gaps in the assortment when completing planograms and makes recommendations to solution for gaps.
  • Generates robust data sets from internal data warehouses via SQL and Power BI to support well-reasoned business decisions demonstrating a strong aptitude with numbers and retail math.
  • Provides training to other analysts and team members on analytics systems/dashboards/solutions in order to meet current and future business needs.
  • Utilizes querying tools, statistical methods, and data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards.
  • Addresses and resolves store specific planograms and merchandising issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with members of cross-functional teams such as Information Systems, Store Planning, Merchandising, and Operations.
  • Provides outstanding internal customer service to Operations, Category Management.
  • Stays updated on industry trends and new technologies that can enhance space planning processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • 2-3+ years of experience in business analysis
  • Experience in PowerBI and SQL preferred
