POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Working in the cross-functional team environment this position collaborates with the other ClimateMaster engineering teams.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Support execution of overall manufacturing plan and lead technical implementation where appropriate; identify and recommend ways to enhance efficiency, quality and safety
  • Convert quality, cost, continuous improvement and process improvement issues into functional objectives
  • Collaborate with ClimateMaster Design Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
  • Research and develop new methodologies, propose new concepts, carry out the research and document the results
  • Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods
  • Identify and propose new cost reduction ideas
  • Oversee the development of manufacturing product routings
  • Develop rough-cut capacity models for manufacturing processes
  • Provide leadership in assessing current processes, developing and executing plans that will deliver improvements in safety, quality, and cost through elimination of waste
  • Lead team to analyze and isolate the root causes of process issues and implement permanent solutions
  • Analyze process controls and capabilities, equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization to maximize efficiency, productivity and quality
  • Advise staff on complex technical issues -provide technical support that addresses process concerns in product developments
  • Ability to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and "ever changing" environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal skills. Key to success in this position is the ability to work within the organization at all levels, creating value and buy-in as a key change facilitator helping to drive the company's Lean transformation initiatives
  • Support planning and execution of various Lean transformation activities and projects targeted towards improving operational performance and developing a continuous improvement culture
  • Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating safe working and efficient working environment
  • Coach and mentor employees on the practical application of lean manufacturing, problem solving tools, and efficient working environment

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or other technical related degree required.

Experience: Minimum of seven years of relevant experience in manufacturing, preferably in process-oriented operations and/or related industry with a proven record of root cause analysis, risk assessment and technical expertise.

Computer Skills: Microsoft office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, AutoCAD, CAD/CAM.

Certificates & Licenses: Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.

Other Requirements: Extensive knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures, operational excellence principles, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (a plus). Formal Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training required. Strong overall business acumen and a background in process flow. Excellent leadership and change management skills.
