Nidec Minster Corporation has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer in our Manufacturing Engineering Group. Primary duties include developing efficient manufacturing processes through activities such as CNC programming of Lathes & Mills, process documentation, estimating, tool and fixture design, quality control, technical support to internal/external customers and suppliers, and identifying opportunities for improvement in all areas of manufacturing.



Job Responsibilities

  • Create CNC Programs using 3D models NX and Okuma conversational experience preferred.
  • Create, modify, and maintain documentation. (setup sheets, tool lists, etc.)
  • Participate in Problem-solving and Root Cause & Corrective Action process.
  • Review engineering print and model revisions and update CNC programs as required.
  • Work with other personnel to develop part fixturing, process drawings, process routers, tooling requirements, and set-up & cycle time estimates.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provide cost/benefit analysis and purchase items that support process improvements directed at on-time delivery, improved quality, and reductions in product cost.
  • Research and test new manufacturing technology. Interact with Vendor base to stay current with improvements that may enhance work holding and machining capabilities.
  • Work with others outside the department throughout the organization as needed to resolve any limitations on machining of parts and offer improvement suggestions to reduce cost, improve thru-put, and/or improve product quality.
  • Manage time appropriately and respond quickly to all inquiries so that production, quality and delivery schedules are met.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Manufacturing Technology Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in engineering, or manufacturing technology preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of drafting, design, and CNC programming of lathes & mills and machine shop experience using CNC machine tools (metal removal).
  • Experience with spindle load monitoring, tool life monitoring, adaptive feed control monitoring software, probing, and connected factory for machine monitoring a plus.
  • Extensive understanding of solid modeling.
  • Able to communicate with sufficient interpersonal skills.
  • Must have advanced understanding in blue print reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation.
  • Must have knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, cutter geometry, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines. As well as understanding of machine speeds and feeds.
  • Must be able to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ERP experience is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand and work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work to specifications with extremely high attention to detail.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
