As the Manufacturing Engineer - Capability Acquisition, you will execute manufacturing engineering activities to identify capability required, create robust SORs, functional specs, and

machine validation plans as well as identify the maintenance and training to keep the machines to baseline. You will be responsible to ensure that technology acquired is capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, deliver rate and lead time (SQCD).

Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop Capability - Identify, develop, implement, validate, maintain, and continuously improve capability, capital (equipment & tooling) and manufacturing technology which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyze and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
  • Integrate Capability Acquisition and Product Introduction activities, buying off new capabilities and methods of manufacture for new parts/assemblies, ensuring new capabilities/methods are at the required level of readiness for production application.
  • Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources, and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders ensuring issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, Export Control, Intellectual Property, Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm program.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners to drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice. Operate beneficial relationships with AxRCs, partners, and suppliers to enable delivery of objectives.
  • Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Capture and utilize lessons learned. Identify, document, and share best practice, including by participation in relevant Communities of Practice


Basic Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Engineering with 4+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, OR
  • JD/PhD in Science, Technology or Engineering, OR
  • In lieu of a degree 6+ years of engineering experience
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a U.S. Citizen


Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience across a number of manufacturing processes relevant to their business with an understanding of process parameters, failure modes, process controls.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of machine design, machine controls, safety requirements, ergonomic requirements, machine validation, maintenance, failure modes, communications, calibration, machine diagnostics, tooling management, coolant systems, work handling, KPV monitoring, standards, and new technology.
  • Awareness of manufacturing systems and enabling software tools (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, SAP, Technical Publications, SPC, etc.) relevant to the business.
  • Project management experience with facility re-design, facility move, technology insertion, new product introduction, process revalidation, or quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated delivery of capability acquisition projects including business case generation, cost and benefit analysis, alternative evaluations, and post-project evaluation.
  • Experience with aerospace materials, tolerances, and processes, PFMEA, PPAP, Process Excellence (six sigma), and Lean Manufacturing best practices is strongly desirable.

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It's a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.
