Job Summary:
We are seeking a manufacturing engineer focused on maintaining, developing, and operating manufacturing systems. The chosen candidate will be responsible for keeping the production costs down, while maintaining the quality of the product or service unaffected and have extensive knowledge and insights into projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Drive process problems to a solution within schedule and budgetary requirements.
Be willing to develop a general understanding of fiber reinforced polymer matrix materials and the various processes used to make composite structures.
Experience in developing and improving manufacturing processes.
Experience in determining takt time, mapping process flows and designing work cells.
Write, update and review shop floor planning.
Troubleshoot production/tooling/facility issues. Implement process improvements and solutions.
Support design, checkout and qualification of new or modified tooling or equipment.
Have a general understanding of non-metallic and metallic tooling used for composite structures.
Familiarity with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Experience with industry standards AS9102 and NADCAP.
Ensure safe working practices put in place and followed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Computer Aided Engineering and Computer Software
Drive design problems to a solution within schedule and budgetary requirements.
Be willing to develop ability to create and/or query component and assembly level CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks and/or Catia.
Learn to create and/or interpret engineering drawings per ASME 14.5 - Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Design structures, fixtures, tooling, and mechanisms used to make advanced composite structures.
Prepare and maintain engineering drawings including process flow diagrams.
Basic Excel and Word skills. Experience with macros, lookups, queries, and formulas is a plus.
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and other equipment controls experience is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills
Good organization and problem-solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
A willingness to foster and maintain excellent relationships with Operations and Quality personnel.
Experience in providing project technical leadership and fulfilling responsibilities associated with Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
Ability to take the initiative, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
Job Qualifications (Education/Skills/Experience):
Candidate with 3 to 10 years minimum of experience in the field or in a related area.
B.S. in Chemical, Civil, Material, or Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
This role requires punctuality, good attendance and the ability to focus on the work at hand during sometimes stressful situations and times with multiple priorities.
