**Job Description**

We have an immediate opportunity for a **Manufacturing Engineer** at our **Ames, IA** location. The Manufacturing Engineer reviews and develops methods and processes (relating to the manufacture of hydrostatic transmission hardware or relating to the assembly and test of hydrostatic transmissions and relating hardware) in accordance with sound and accepted manufacturing and/or engineering principals, current state-of- the-art technology, directives and controls.

**Job Responsibilities**

+ Working with the latest technology supporting assembly and testing operations of hydraulic pumps and motors. This includes advanced MES systems, robotics, motion control, and advanced poke yokes such as DC electric tools, vision systems, bar code readers, and advanced sensors.

+ Ensuring maximum efficiency through proper work force utilization, space management, equipment and workplace designs layout.

+ Analyzing and interpreting manufacturing related data and assisting shop personnel in solving tooling and/or process method problems relating to assembly and test equipment tooling and/or process methods.

+ Developing processes and initiating tool designs as required to support cost-effective quality manufacture of hardware; OR developing process equipment designs and providing specifications for assembly and test equipment.

+ Analyzing and reviewing current manufacturing or assembly and test methods, equipment, and engineering design to improve process and affect cost reduction savings.

+ Demonstrating a strong problem-solving ability.

+ Strong communication skills (from plant floor personnel through company management).

+ Responding with commitment and sensitivity toward satisfying the needs of internal and external customers. Promoting quality and continuous improvement philosophy.

+ Evaluating situations objectively and demonstrating the ability to make timely decisions that are intended to have a positive effect on work performance.

+ Demonstrating a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area. Following safety regulations and actively contributes to work safety.

**Background & Skills**

+ BA/BS degree specialized in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering

+ 2 to 4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of experience and training

+ Ability to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures

+ Practical and logical approach to problem-solving

+ Interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

+ Project management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
