Overview:

The VP Manufacturing Support role is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing multiple facets of the manufacturing process including Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Manufacturing Engineering in our electrical distribution transformer manufacturing company. This role is designed to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement within our manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a holistic understanding of manufacturing processes, a strong leadership background, and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development of the manufacturing team. This role is responsible for multiple facilities across North America and travel will be required up to 50% quarterly.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate the activities within Quality Assurance, EHS, and Manufacturing Engineering departments to ensure operational excellence and alignment with company goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams within each support function, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and accountability.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive the implementation of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the Manufacturing Engineering team to optimize production processes, equipment, and workflows for increased efficiency and reduced costs.
  • Work closely with supply chain and procurement to ensure the timely availability of high-quality materials and equipment.
  • Partner with enterprise manufacturing and plant leaders to support site-focused quality and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Analyze production data and trends to make informed decisions on production planning, capacity expansion, and technology investments.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for EHS, Quality, and Engineering & Maintenance departments to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and excellence within the manufacturing team, encouraging open communication and professional growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, and hiring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent level of instruction in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Masters degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of related experience with 7 years or more in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading process improvements, implementing EHS policies, and managing quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing engineering practices, Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma quality management methods, and production training programs.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders; experienced in matrix organizations.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
