At Electric Power Systems, Inc. (EPS), we are shaping the future of mobility by delivering cutting-edge Energy Storage Systems for Aerospace and Transportation applications. As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will play an integral role in our team, contributing to the development and production of state-of-the-art battery systems that meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and innovation. Located in North Logan, Utah, EPS offers an environment where engineers can thrive, grow their careers, and work on the leading edge of technological advancement in the energy storage industry.
In this role, you will be a key member of the team, where you will be responsible for creating and optimizing the tooling, methods, and documentation required for the manufacturing process of advanced battery systems. Your ability to plan, develop, and improve both manual and automated processes will be crucial to the success of our operations. Drawing on your technical knowledge, you will troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process-related challenges, ensuring smooth production workflows and consistent product quality.
At EPS, you will use your engineering expertise to tackle moderate to complex manufacturing challenges. Working alongside a team of dedicated engineers, you will receive guidance from senior and principal engineers, but also have the autonomy to make technical decisions that contribute to the design and production processes. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach, and you will work closely with the IPT to develop and refine manufacturing documentation and processes that support the efficient production of high-quality energy storage systems.
A significant part of your role will involve optimizing the layout of equipment and workflows to maximize operational efficiency. You will also be tasked with determining the parts, tools, and equipment necessary to meet product specifications and manufacturing goals. Your responsibilities will include creating comprehensive build documentation, detailed process instructions, and equipment manuals that will guide both current and future manufacturing efforts. As issues arise, you will troubleshoot manufacturing problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to keep production on track.
Your background in manufacturing engineering will be crucial as you work to bring projects to Manufacturing Readiness Level 10, the highest level of production maturity. Your experience in process development, failure investigation, and technical writing will serve you well in this fast-paced environment. EPS engineers are expected to be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and delivering results that align with the company's mission and quality standards.
To excel in this position, you should have 1-3 years of experience with a Master's degree, 2-5 years with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with an Associate's degree or equivalent certification in an engineering discipline. You will need a strong foundation in manufacturing environments and experience with 3D design software like SolidWorks. Knowledge of process development techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Validation and Verification (V&V), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) will be essential. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication and presentation skills will be key to your success.
While experience in areas like sheet metal design, pneumatics, machining, and electrical schematics is preferred, we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in aerospace battery design and manufacturing, process automation, and robotic systems. Familiarity with LEAN, Six Sigma, and SPC methods, as well as safety protocols for high-voltage systems, will further distinguish you as a strong candidate for this position.
At EPS, you will not only contribute to the production of groundbreaking energy storage systems but also have the chance to grow within a dynamic and innovative company that is at the forefront of powering the future. Join us and help drive the evolution of mobility.
