Position Summary
Headworks International is a leading manufacturer of screenings equipment and process systems for water reuse for the worldwide wastewater industry.

We are looking for the right people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. Our Manufacturing Plant Manager is responsible for all daily activities within the plant to meet planned objectives, including leading a zero-injury work culture, achieving quality and output goals, and driving continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

On a typical day, a Plant Manager starts by reviewing the employee schedule for the day. They hold a meeting before production begins to remind employees of their responsibilities and respective assignments. Throughout the day, Plant Managers divide their time between their office and the production floor. While in their office, they draft job descriptions for vacancies, review employee quota data and communicate with corporate management to discuss changes to production needs.

Between their administrative duties, Plant Managers supervise employee workstations, investigate potential equipment defects and make sure that all employees follow the plant's safety procedures.

  • Continuous Quality Control
  • Oversee operations to ensure safety
  • Owns and delivers the operational budget for PCB manufacturing/assembly, including safety, productivity, financial planning, labor planning, and operational goals.
  • Responsible for providing strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, rate forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Under broad direction, leads/guides the day-to-day activities of a smaller business unit or a regional machine shop
  • Responsible for maintaining production schedule and attaining effective resource utilization
  • Drives creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the whole manufacturing team to meet and exceed business plan.
  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of all manufacturing. Will set and clarify requirements and expectations for Manufacturing. Measures performance, provides feedback, and hold employees accountable for their performance.
  • Maintains quality compliance for products and other regulatory requirements relative to the country of operation
  • Coordinates planning with Region personnel and/or Manufacturing center
  • Maintains ability to provide quick response to customer
  • Plans staffing requirements for assigned area of responsibility, provides training and development for personnel, performs salary administration, and develops team environment structures to support operation
  • Develops and implements procedures to control processes and product quality, plans capacity to meet demands, and communicates effectively with customers and supply base
  • Provides supervision for direct and dual report functions such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Planning, Customer Service, Maintenance, etc.
  • Effectively liaises with sales, shipping/receiving and quality functions to ensure goals are met. •
  • Identifies major cost drivers within the operation and works to minimize. •
  • Establishes shift production schedules and ensures these are met. •
  • Manages operating budgets to improve planned objectives. •
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
  • Works closely with support staff (PM, Materials, HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT) and other leaders to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, as well as providing needed support and resources for other initiatives.
Requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • A completed bachelor's degree.
  • 7+ years experience.
  • Water cutter, laser cutter experience,
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
  • 7+Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
  • 7+ Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
  • 7+Experience leading an operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff.
  • 4 years sheet metal experience
  • 4 years welding experience
  • Experience with Sand blasting or glass bead blasting a plus
  • Experience with non pressure vessels a plus
  • Experience with rotating equipment manufacturing a plus
  • Environment is fast-paced, action oriented, and high energy.
  • Individual must have high-level organizational and time management skills to balance time and priorities.
  • Position is responsible for overall efficiency, safety, and profitable operation of facilitiy.
  • Requires coordination of all production floor activities, including scheduling needs, toolroom, and equipment maintenance.
  • Candidate must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to build an effective team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
