We are now accepting applications for the following position: POSITION: Manufacturing Engineer Intern LOCATION: Blackfoot, Idaho JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer Intern for Spudnik Equipment Company is responsible for researching and developing new systems, processes, methods, and tools that will improve plant efficiency and productivity. The Intern is required to be knowledgeable of current processes and so will be required to spend significant amounts of time actively working in production departments. Teamwork and customer service skills are vitally important as the Intern works directly and indirectly with customers, vendors, employees, supervisors and managers. Quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and self-motivation are important assets for this position. Intern will demonstrate high levels of responsibility and accountability; working effectively and efficiently at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Actively work with all departments to identify opportunities to implement changes or modifications in current fabrication and manufacturing processes that will improve and increase product development, manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, quality control processes, and other related activities. Research current manufacturing processes and capabilities, comparing to industry standards and best practices, and present proposals with detailed supporting documentation for improvements or modifications. Develop plans and systems for improvement or modification, working in partnership with management team and production departments to put into action. Effectively communicate with management team to clearly define problems, both during and after the implementation process, and take an active role in suggesting solutions. Perform audits on jobs and projects for completeness and accuracy. Be a top performer in workmanship, safety, and work ethics. MACHINES OR EQUIPMENT TYPICALLY OPERATED: Office machines such as computer, copier, fax machine, printer, digital camera. Other machines and equipment specific to departmental or facility needs TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: LIGHT to MEDIUM work involving: Climbing Handling Talking Repetitive motion Typing Walking Stooping Pushing Pulling Lifting Kneeling Grasping Visual Acuity Crouching TYPICAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May have temperature changes due to working inside a shop or outdoor environment. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dust mists, gases or poor ventilation. There is air and or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids. REQUIREMENTS: Current enrollment in engineering degree program such as Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering; Well-developed knowledge and understanding of mechanical principles and applications; Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, critical thinking, and analytical skills; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Ability to read and interpret instructional drawings and schematics.
