North Coast Container is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Plant Manager to be responsible for overseeing continuous improvement, quality, team development, discipline, safety OSHA compliance and profitability. The plant is located at 8435 NE Lombard Street, Portland, OR 97220. This plant has about 25 unionized and 2 non-union team members.

This is a non-union, full-time, day shift position offering PTO, sick, Medical, Dental, Vision, life and disability insurance, plus 401K with match.


The ideal candidate will have 3+ years experience in manufacturing or related field with at least 2 years' supervisory experience. Requires a high school diploma with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in business management, manufacturing, engineering or related field.

Requires:

  • Ability to use lean tools (standard work, gemba walks, rapid improvement events, managing for daily improvements)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and familiarity with an ERP or MRP system
  • Ability to interpret reports, financial statements, and other indicators and use them to manage the plant budget. Oversee all labor and materials spending.
  • Ability to communicate with sales team and customers regarding raw material and production time availability to ensure appropriate costs and lead times are quoted.
  • Ability to interview/select employees, make personnel decisions and administer discipline.
  • Ability to conduct one on one coaching with team members as well as performance reviews.
  • Ability to hold managers and supervisors accountable for hours efficiency, unit production, quality, incoming raw unit inventory, ERS compliance, work conduct, cross-training and ethical standards.
  • Ability to work off-shift as required to support plant goals.
