Job Summary: The Manufacturing Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that all cannabis manufacturing activities comply with state and federal regulations. This individual is responsible for maintaining accurate tracking and reporting of production processes, ensuring adherence to compliance standards, and managing communication between production teams and regulatory bodies. The role also involves working with ERP systems to maintain up-to-date records of inventory, production activities, and compliance-related data. This role is pivotal to ensuring the company continues to meet and exceed regulatory expectations while growing its production capabilities. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and able to balance compliance with operational efficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure cannabis manufacturing processes comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including METRC and other track-and-trace systems.
- Maintain current knowledge of cannabis laws and regulations, updating company practices as necessary.
- Conduct internal audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Tracking and Reporting:
- Track all product movement from raw materials through finished goods in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and report on key production metrics, ensuring accurate data collection for regulatory submissions.
- Prepare and submit required reports to state and local regulatory authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Production Records:
- Maintain comprehensive production records, including batch records, waste disposal, equipment logs, and employee training records.
- Ensure all records are accessible and up to date for compliance inspections.
- Communication and Liaison:
- Act as the point of contact between production teams and compliance bodies, ensuring clear communication of compliance requirements and updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and inventory management, to maintain compliance across the operation.
- ERP System Management:
- Manage and update the ERP system, ensuring accurate tracking of inventory, production schedules, and compliance data.
- Train staff on proper use of the ERP system for compliance tracking and reporting.
- Work closely with the IT team to ensure the ERP system aligns with compliance needs and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- HS Diploma or GED or bachelor's degree in business, compliance, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in a compliance role within the cannabis industry or another regulated industry (food, pharma, etc.).
- Experience with ERP systems and cannabis track-and-trace systems (e.g., METRC or Bio-Track).
- Familiarity with state cannabis regulations, particularly with manufacturing requirements.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and compliant records.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration across departments and with regulatory bodies.
- Proficient in using ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to implement compliance improvements.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
