Job Title: Supplier Collaboration/Manufacturing Engineer

Description:The Supplier Collaboration/Manufacturing Engineer is a key leader and communicator responsible for facilitating collaboration between Collaborative Product and Process Development teams, Suppliers, Engineering, and Procurement. The primary focus is on ensuring early supplier involvement in design for manufacturability, assembly, and cost, while adhering to APQP guidelines.

Job Duties:
  • Develop supplier manufacturing capabilities, lead cross-functional projects, and enhance manufacturing quality while reducing costs.
  • Seek candidates with weld validation experience, preferably in aluminum, Program Management expertise, and Lean Manufacturing skills. PLC Programming, Robotic Programming, and MES-System troubleshooting are advantageous.
  • Accountable for meeting product cost, quality, and time targets throughout the product lifecycle, including New Product Introduction (NPI), through effective collaboration at a part number level.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in trade-off discussions, providing work direction to Cost Modelers for developing detailed process-based cost models.
  • Lead discussions and projects to identify cost opportunities, set realistic target costs, and manage cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, resource allocation, or design changes.
  • Utilize analytical skills to forecast future costs and address conflicts in processes, objectives, or solutions.
  • Proactively manage product cost, instilling confidence in costs through cost model projects and identifying part opportunities.
  • Develop strong working relationships across departments (engineering, purchase, logistics, product management) to ensure effective collaboration and savings delivery.
  • Direct teams to interface with Suppliers and Purchasing, ensuring early collaboration on design for manufacturability, assembly, and cost, in addition to adherence to APQP guidelines.
  • Ensure the development, analysis, and documentation of cost information for various projects, including new product development, design and cost improvement, maintenance, make versus buy, etc.
  • Establish and manage target costs, providing leadership in trade-off discussions during the design process to balance performance, quality, velocity, and cost optimization.
  • Provide leadership to ensure cost predictability.

Requirements:
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in weld validation, preferably with aluminum.
  • Program Management and Lean Manufacturing expertise.
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming, Robotic Programming, and MES-System troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage trade-off discussions.
  • Effective communicator and influencer to address conflicts and ensure collaboration.
  • Proactive in identifying cost opportunities and setting realistic target costs.
  • Excellent project management skills with a focus on cost predictability.
  • Ability to forecast future costs and maintain stability in cost management.
