The Financial Controller is responsible for supporting and maintaining the financial wellness and integrity of the organization. This role will supervise individuals in the finance and accounting team, prepare reports for company leadership and develop standards and procedures for proper financial management. The position will also partner with Shared Services and other departments as needed. What you’ll do as a Controller: Manage quality month-end closing, oversee journal entries and GL account reconciliation, including the preparation of financial statements for several legal entities in the US and Canada, including working knowledge of foreign currency exchange Oversee loading of financial statements into corporate consolidation software for actual results, budget, and forecasts Be responsible for intercompany transactions and reporting Track promotions and allowances, as key user of the Exceedra trade spend software Ensure compliance with internal approval processes, implementing best practices for the business unit including financial and accounting policies, internal controls, contracts and procedures Assist with annual audit, providing documents and reports for income tax filings We’re looking for a Controller with: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance / MBA degree is a plus 5 years’ job-related experience in accounting or finance as an individual contributor Business knowledge in sales, distribution, manufacturing, or purchasing; preferred Ability to manage competing deadlines and pivot priorities in a fast-paced environment Experience guiding policies and procedures across all levels of employees Confident and diplomatic ability to serve at times, as an authority to ensure processes, and financial decisions are managed ethically and in compliance with company policies Experience handling and safeguarding sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner Ability to review, develop, and adopt standard company accounting policies Experience with staying abreast of industry standards focused on process improvement opportunities Experience communicating and at times training departments on company financial activities and processes Assist with various forecasts, budgets and hoc financial reporting Knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS SAP or Tagetik experience required CPA a plus Strong experience Excel, Microsoft Office Strong desire for a candidate with a background with CPG (consumer product goods), having experience with selling & marketing spending, customer promotions and allowances.
