Continuous Improvement Specialist/Engineer
Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist/Engineer is responsible for identifying, leading, and implementing process improvements throughout the manufacturing plant. Using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies, the CI Specialist/Engineer will work to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, improve safety, and sustain high-quality production standards across the facility. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, data analysis, and hands-on implementation to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process Analysis and Improvement:
- Assess current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to remove waste, optimize workflows, and increase efficiency.
- Develop and implement new processes or modifications to existing processes to meet production and quality targets.
- Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, root causes, and areas for corrective action.
- Project Leadership:
- Lead continuous improvement projects from conception to completion, including planning, execution, and evaluation phases.
- Facilitate Kaizen events and rapid action projects to address operational challenges and optimize production processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, quality, and supply chain, to implement process changes and ensure project success.
- Sustainability of Improvements:
- Ensure that improvements are sustained through the development of standard work, documentation, and employee training.
- Monitor the effectiveness of process changes over time and make adjustments as necessary to maintain long-term success.
- Work with leadership to ensure continuous improvement efforts align with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
- Training and Coaching:
- Train employees on Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to foster a culture of problem-solving and continuous learning.
- Provide coaching to team members on effective problem-solving techniques and process optimization strategies.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and supply chain teams to resolve production bottlenecks and optimize equipment functionality.
- Liaise with external suppliers to source cost-effective materials, services, and equipment that support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate analysis, project results, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Safety and Quality Improvement:
- Drive process improvements that enhance workplace safety and ergonomics for operators and employees.
- Implement quality control measures and conduct root cause analysis to address production issues and ensure products meet quality standards.
- Cost Reduction and Efficiency:
- Develop strategies to reduce operational costs without compromising quality, safety, or performance.
- Work to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and reduce machine downtime through proactive maintenance and process adjustments.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.
- Proven experience in leading and facilitating Kaizen events and improvement projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to drive process improvements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in manufacturing.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) preferred.
- Proficiency with data analysis software and tools.
- Project management experience and the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes, including automation techniques.
