NSC Staffing has immediate openings for Material Handlers in Indianapolis, IN. Candidates must be comfortable working around machines. Attention to detail and ability to work overtime. 
Job Requirements:
Handles and maintains flow of materials and products in processing areas according to established guidelines. Records movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies and verifies the accuracy of work performed. Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
 
Essential Job Functions:

  • Receive and inspect incoming material from suppliers
  • Inspect and load material for shipping to customers
  • Move material to and from processing centers and warehouse locations per established material handling guidelines
  • Assist in good housekeeping practices (keep work area and walkway clean and free of debris)
  • Responsible for operating forklift and overhead crane to load and unload material onto trucks
  • Processes work orders from bills of lading
  • Double check parts before shipping
  • Responsible for packaging cut products
  • Collaborates with other handlers and supervisor
  • Ensures correct products are being loaded and unloaded by matching order numbers to printed tags
  • Performs preoperational safety checks on forklift and overhead crane
  • Labels and packages finished products
  • Understand and follow safe job procedures including inspecting forklift, equipment and tools before operating
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or materials moving needs
  • Complete necessary paperwork when needed
  • Record information in a computer screen
  • Band material and attach identifying tags

Qualifications

  • Must have basic computer, email, and printer skills
  • Basic Microsoft office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Must be able to use tape measure, micrometer, caliper, and calculator
  • Spray paint use
  • Tablet use
  • Use software to process work orders
  • Can work independently and in a team environment
  • Self-motivated and takes responsibility for own work; can manage interruptions
  • Must perform all duties while meeting safety protocols

 
Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.
  • 1-2 years experience in operating a forklift, preferred
