RN Unit Manager Requirements:
- Must possess valid nursing license in the state of Maryland.
- 2 years RN experience preferred.
- RN with LTC experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the first-floor nurses station under the supervision of the ADON/DON.
- Assists the charge nurses with new admissions and/or re-admissions to the first floor on day shift as necessary and coordinates with the shift nurses and evening supervisor to follow through with admissions not completed on the day shift.
- Monitors and coordinates nursing services, treatment and documentation to ensure it is provided in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Participates in an orientation program and orients professional nurses to the unit, its policies and procedures, and to his/her job description.
- Recommends policies and procedures that will enhance nursing care.
- Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to DON/ADON as necessary/required, concerning the operations of the nursing department, including performance issues with professional and GNA and CMA staff.
- Assists charge nurses on the first floor with resident/family questions and/or issues, clinical concerns, discharge planning, communication with doctors, supervision of the nurse's aides and hands on care.
- Participates in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
- Assists nursing leadership and administrator in implementing new nursing policies.
- Engages in studies and investigations related to improving nursing care as required.
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the nursing profession.
- Agrees to honor all state and federal resident rights.
