Job Description

We have recently added an OTC DT-ARC 1000 dual robot cell and looking for the right operator to join our welding team to help support the company’s continued growth.
Summary
The Robotic Welding Technician & Programmer is knowledgeable on concepts and processes of robotic welders. This person is responsible for the operation of DRC’s new OTC dual robot cell and supporting existing robots (Panasonic and ABB). Works closely with engineering to help create weld programs, develop fixtures and jigs, and provide feedback relating to design for welding best practices. Serves as DRC’s robotic welding expert, OTC offline programmer, helps develop best practices, provides feedback for ISO procedures, assists with developing lean manufacturing practices and training other robot operators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and select appropriate weldment program and run robotic welder(s)
- Modify existing programs and/or create new programs where applicable to minimize arm travel and increase efficiency
- Load and unload parts and completed weldments
- Use appropriate MME to measure, inspect and document first article production weldments
- Perform daily operator visual inspection and preventive maintenance (PM) as defined by operator manuals and/or maintenance department
- Provide feedback and assistance in fixture and jig creation or modification
- Identify areas for continuous improvement
- Assist with the development of DRC robotic welding best practices and training materials
- Monitor material and consumables and notify supervisor for reorder
- Change gas tanks and reload wire feed
- Attend training for robotic welding equipment
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- General clean-up, facility cleanliness and 5S practices
- Material handling/movement of sub-assemblies to proper station(s)
- Additional manufacturing tasks as required/instructed by supervisor(s)

- Follow Diesel Radiator Company policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality, security and standards of ethics in all areas at Diesel Radiator
- Approach change and difficult situations in a professional manner; demonstrate flexibility
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality; accurately report hours worked and time off
- Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Assist in keeping work area and equipment in safe working condition. Initiate correction of hazards as appropriate and/or notify supervisor of hazards in a timely manner. Operate equipment following manufacturers’ procedures and use proper body mechanics
- In the event of a workplace incident or injury, immediately file first report with Safety Supervisor and/or Vice President
Job Requirements
- Ability to read tape measure and convert fractions to decimal measurements
- Ability to read and use measuring equipment, including micrometers and calipers
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to read and follow blueprints
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be self-motivated and team oriented
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and other departments
- Must wear steel toed shoes and safety glasses in all plant facilities
Education/Training/Experience
High School Degree or equivalent; 1-3 years of related experience and/or training; CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms

- Regularly see using close and distant vision
- Occasionally walk, climb, balance, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
- Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70+ pounds with assistance
