MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reads and interprets work specification to plan and execute their requirements
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure job requirements are met
- Manages and directs working crews ensuring quality of work and that safety procedures are followed
- Fills Q.A. tickets out for visual welds
- Writes Condition Reports
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fills in for Welding Shop Superintendent in his/her absence
- Repairs welding equipment
- Performs welding onboard ships and in shops
- Analyzes new welding techniques and equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ten years of experience welding experience.
- Thorough knowledge of all welding processes used in ship repair.
- Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train others by example.
