JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of an employee in this class is to set up for and officiate, keep score/time at designated sports games. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, although some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of the position are performed in an indoor gymnasium or an outdoor sports field that may expose the employee to adverse weather conditions or excessive noise.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Enforces rules and regulations consistent with adult league rules.
- Officiates and keeps the official time and scores at designated sports games.
- Supervises competition, including spectators and participants, during events.
- Sets up equipment for designated sports games.
- Monitors facility conditions and notifies Recreation Supervisor of any needed equipment repairs or replacements.
- Serves as a positive role model for the players, parents, coaches and fellow officials by following all rules and demonstrating good sportsmanship.
- Corresponds with officials, coaches and scorekeepers and completes paperwork when necessary.
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices.
- Assists other staff with assignments and duties as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Demands:
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively in person during a competitive game situation.
- Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions, observe game play, and officiate during competitive game situations.
- Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to demonstrate skills and handle equipment for designated sports.
- Sufficient personal mobility, stamina, physical reflexes, and flexibility, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to stand for long periods of time, move up and down a playing surface as required to observe competitive actions, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a sports field environment.

- Any combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Special Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- Satisfactory criminal background investigation for applicants 18 years of age or older.
