Job Summary


Plans, implements, supervise and evaluate activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education. Sports & Fitness YDP is responsible for coordinating and implementing sports, fitness, games, and recreation activities.

Requirements:

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)


Program Development and Implementation

?Effectively implement and administer Physical Education programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.

?Ensure the development of appropriate sports programs and healthy lifestyles curriculum plans.

?Maintain and keep files of attendance.

?Foster the educational experience via hands-on, developmentally appropriate, and highly interactive methods.?Coach and provide players instructions in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of basketball.

?Oversees traditional sports including soccer, football, basketball, baseball and more.

?Organize and direct group practices activities or exercises.

?Monitor players during competition and practices.

?Model sport-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.

?Maintain the equipment in an orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.

?Must possess some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

?Conduct a minimum of 3 sport leagues per year (Basketball, Soccer, Futsal, Football, etc.).

?Responsible for coordinating and overseeing multiple sports leagues with other BGCC sites year-round. (Soccer, basketball, football, baseball and more)

?Prepare the outdoor area for the day’s activities and programs by setting up equipment, setting boundaries of playing fields, resets for the next set of activities and ensures all equipment is stored properly for the next use.


  1. ?Prepare weekly and monthly schedules.?Assist in the creation of bulletin boards, display of member activities and other department objectives.
  2. ?Promote and recruit members by contacting local schools and parents.
  3. ?Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the unit at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
  4. ?Promote and stimulate program participation.
  5. ?Register new members and participate in their club orientation process.
  6. ?Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  7. ?Works with Unit Director based on projects and club needs. Supervision
  8. ?Maintain members order and discipline by managing members’ behavior; reinforces rules of the club and all the recreational areas and during transportation (including the front desk).
  9. ?Help develop injury prevention methods, evaluates injuries. Highest priority is the safety of the Club members.
  10. ?Ensure a productive work environment by participating in regular unit and organization staff meetings

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:


?Recognize equipment malfunction and take appropriate action.

?Establish and maintain cooperative effective working relationships with others.

?Understand and follow oral and written directions.

?Meet schedules and timelines.?Assist in loading and unloading children as necessary.

?Pass mandatory random drug and alcohol test.

?Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications and TB clearance.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

?May participate in special programs and/or events.

?May be required to help in other program areas.

?Assume other duties as assigned.


RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

•High School diploma or GED.

•Experience in working with children.

•Knowledge of youth development.

•Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards to specific sports

•Ability to use, operates, and/or handle and transport physical education equipment such as goal areas, exercise mats, portable basketball goals, etc.

•Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.

•Ability to deal with the general public.

•Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.

•Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
