Your Job:

As the Sports Marketing Events Lead you will oversee the strategy, planning, and execution of Brooks events at globally relevant moments in the sport. You will lead in the development of a master playbook that will serve as a strategic guide and throughline for how we create and shape engaging brand experiences at key events and moments in the sport. In order to effectively execute on this strategy on the ground, you will need to prioritize a strong partnership with regional events teams and facilitate cross-channel collaboration within the marketing organization to activate and amplify the events. You will own the development of strategic insights for opportunities to advance our brand and business goals using global events and lead in finding creative ways to engage the competitive runner through incorporating Brooks athletes and influencers in these activations. You will manage agency and partnership relationships relating to planning and executing the global events, and in time will stand up a larger in-house team that will take on some of those responsibilities. You will be expected to be on the ground at all major events that you are overseeing and thus must be willing to spend a significant amount of time on the road both domestically and internationally.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Event Strategy and Planning
  • Lead the development of a global events strategy prioritizing the key audiences and strategic goals defined within the larger global sports marketing and brand marketing strategies.
  • Create the master creative guide and strategic playbook that will inform the brand experience and global programming at these global moments year over year.
  • Brief Global Events Agency to devise a specific strategy and vision for each event on the global moments calendar that balances a strong localized activation while still engaging a global audience and maintaining a consistent brand experience across all events.
  • Engage closely with head of sports marketing in the build out of the growth plan for the global events strategy and in choosing both which events and the type of activations most effective in maximizing value and scalability in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Manage the global events budget and yearly events calendar to effectively scale activations planned across the year in line with strategic global growth goals and brand KPIs.
  • Partner with sports marketing team to identify new opportunities for involvement of athletes and teams into the event activations and programming.
  • Oversee agency and external partnerships involved in standing up and executing on the global events strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to integrate products, brand campaigns, and partners into the event activations.
  • Evaluate opportunities for global event sponsorship and strategic fit with the brand. Lead development of proposals and pitches for aligned opportunities.
  • Event Execution and Management
  • Conduct bi-weekly conversations with global events agency, managing communication, workflow, and timelines between them and Brooks for global events.
  • Lead integrated tactical planning with all regions in partnership with global brand marketing and marketing operations.
  • Oversee elite athlete integration into all events in partnership with sports marketing team.
  • Consult with global events agency and partners around on-site location and local vendor selection.
  • Function as on the ground support at all global events – monitoring branding, customer engagement, programming, and the event’s overall experience to ensure alignment with marketing goals and events strategy.
  • Coordinate with regional social media, PR, and paid media teams to ensure consistent brand messaging, athlete/influencer engagement, and an external media presence.
  • Manage the global events budget for each event, ensuring cost-effective solutions and adherence to financial guidelines set forth.
  • Organize planning and a communication structure between global and regional marketing teams that fosters effective collaboration and consistent results.
  • Create post-event analysis and reporting that summarizes the event while identifying key successes and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure all marketing and branding used on-site is compliant with legal regulations for that region and any event sponsorship restrictions.
  • Sports Marketing Team Support
  • Support general sports marketing initiatives, SharePoint sites, and take on other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with sports marketing team to support local Brooks events and activities.
  • Assist sports marketing team to ensure integration of program assets and storytelling alignment in partnership with creative, social, and digital teams around events.
  • Share out regular event updates and communications to marketing teams and Brooks HQ.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree in Marketing, Event Management, or another related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, events, or retail within an athletic environment.
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred including hiring, effectively directing the work of staff, development, and managing performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across an organization and assist in developing integrated programs.
  • Expertise in multi-tasking and working effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and independent work habits.
  • Strong written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Creativity and innovation regarding new marketing initiatives.
  • Understand the running community and the topics that resonate with runners globally.
  • A passion for the running enthusiast and active lifestyle.
  • Ability to work professionally and efficiently with company partners, athletes, and internal stakeholders.
  • MS Office skills (including PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time to national and international events.

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $108,403 - $162,605 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
