Job DescriptionNBCUniversal has an opportunity for a talented individual to join their dynamic Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Operations & Technology Team working in close partnership with the Business Continuity & Crisis Management team. The purpose of this position is to support overall EHS program implementation with an emphasis on the NBC Sports division. The successful candidate will work with management and production teams, Stamford and Monroe, CT facilities, and support domestic and international remote events, as assigned.
The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge, self-motivation qualities and excellent interpersonal skills, and able to influence teams to ensure compliance with all NBCUniversal, federal, state, and local environmental, occupational safety and health policies, rules, and regulations as applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Provide EHS-related support both in-person and remotely to all locations.
- Act as the designated on-site management employee supported to authorize and responsible to establish, administer and enforce a program of safe practices and conduct for all production personnel.
- Ensure applicable EHS training is made available, new training is developed as needed, manage training systems to support internal clients, and facilitate training between third party software platforms and internal clients.
- Assist with continual development of EHS program, policies, audits, and additional tools to help the NBC Sports teams and facilities manage local EHS compliance aligned with local regulatory requirements and Corporate EHS standards. This includes attending remote productions/events to provide input from the EHS perspective and, as necessary, address higher-risk activities that may take place.
- Oversee the use of internal electronic system (Gensuite) and ensure that all tasks, inspections, incidents, near misses, action items, etc. are properly tracked/documented and closed.
- Work with other departments who bring in vendors to the facility to ensure those that are required to be in Avetta (internal system) are submitted and compliant.
- Facilitate aerial and drone requests from Production & Operations. Work with Legal for approvals.
- Conduct a review/breakdown of production plans to identify potential EHS issues, e.g., hazardous conditions or locations, unusual activities, etc.
- Provide timely EHS reports and statistics to management to include: KPI reports, leading and lagging indicators, relevant deviations from expected performance and present data-driven information to senior management.
- Participate (on-site / in-person) in events, surveys, and production meetings, as necessary, to understand scheduled production activities and provide guidance for any unresolved issues.
- Conduct investigations of accidents, incidents, significant events and emergencies promptly in accordance with company policies and/or applicable laws and regulations. As necessary, assist with Workers Compensation claims by individuals.
- Assist operations with preparation and coordination of regularly scheduled audits and reviews. Meet deadlines on any action items/MAPs resulting from audit and provide documentation supporting resolution.
- Establish and maintain the EHS departmental short and long-term goals.
- Interface with outside regulatory agencies as required, e.g., Fire Department, Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA) representatives.
- Other responsibilities as assigned, which may include Fleet management, Ergonomics, Emergency Evacuation Drills, E-Waste.
- Represent NBC Sports Group to external professional organizations, peers, and employees in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety, occupational health or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field or the television and/or live entertainment industry
- Proven experience in implementing EHS programs.
- Must have working knowledge of US EPA, US OSHA, and US DOT regulations.
- Must have ability to manage multiple priorities and drive implementation of key EHS initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and associated tools (with an emphasis on PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal, written skills and presentation skills and be detail oriented.
- Must be willing to travel up to 35% of the time.
- Must be able to perform job at locations in and outside work environment with varying weather conditions.
- Position requires the individual to travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekday nights, and on weekends as needed.
- Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
