Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Site Supervisors impact the lives of youth and families through direct care, organization, supervision and well-being of participants in the sports activity. S/He assists officials and ensures quality programming and a positive experience for participants and spectators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Creates a positive environment for all participants, ensuring growth and development.
2. Builds relationships among participants and spectators to pro-actively gain and retain members.
3. Exemplifies appropriate behavior at all times. Acts as a role model for participants and spectators.
4. Understands and implements rules of assigned sport, focusing on participant experience and safety at all times.
5. Ensures site is safe by pro-actively managing risk and responding to first aid or other issues in a timely manner, reporting any issues per program processes.
6. Provides interpretation and demonstration to all participants, including those with special needs.
7. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
8. Actively participates in department and branch meetings and trainings.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. At least 18 years of age
2. Minimum 1 year experience in assigned program area
3. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
4. Ability to work independently with attention to detail required
5. Previous experience working with children preferred
6. Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, and possession of strong sense of responsibility
7. Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
8. Complete before first shift: YMCA Cause & Culture, Child Abuse Prevention and program-specific trainings; CPR/AED/First Aid (provided by the YMCA)
9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
