Job SummaryThe Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision and guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide therapeutic treatments and assist patients in recovering from injuries or managing physical disabilities. The PTA is responsible for carrying out therapy interventions, monitoring patient progress, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for rehabilitation. This role involves assisting patients through their therapy sessions, setting up equipment, and providing education and support to patients and their families.Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Support:Answer phone calls and assist with scheduling patient appointments.Maintain patient records and update as necessary.Therapeutic Support:Massage and stretch muscles to alleviate discomfort and enhance mobility.Set up and ensure the proper functioning of therapy equipment prior to sessions.Monitor patients during therapy sessions to ensure safety and compliance with prescribed exercises.Patient Guidance & Education:Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and movements as directed by the physical therapist.Provide clear instructions and encouragement to help patients perform exercises correctly and safely.Brief patients and their families on post-therapy care and at-home exercises to support continued recovery.Safety & Cleanliness:Sanitize therapy areas and equipment in accordance with infection control policies to maintain a clean and safe environment.Assist in lifting or moving patients as needed to ensure comfort and safety during therapy.Required QualificationsEducation:Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.Licensing & Certification:Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in [state].Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification may be required.Skills & AbilitiesStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with patients, families, and team members.Knowledge of physical therapy techniques and patient care procedures.Ability to lift and move patients safely and assist in physical tasks during therapy.Organizational skills and attention to detail, including scheduling and record-keeping.Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable therapy environment.ExperiencePrior experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant or similar role is preferred.Experience with patient handling, therapeutic techniques, and using therapy equipment is a plus.
