MAINTENANCE WORKER

Full Time Days | 8am-4:30pm | Monday-Friday

** Pay rate between $19-22.36/hour **

What will I do as a Maintenance Worker for The Wesley Community?

Administrative Functions
  • Assure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shifts or areas.
  • File complaints/grievances with your supervisor.
  • Other related duties may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or Executive Director.
  • Maintain and update records of preventive maintenance and repair.
Staff Development
  • Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.
  • Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., as directed.
Maintenance Services
  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the facility equipment and grounds to include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, mechanical, some snow removal, storm cleanup, etc. as directed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Check and maintain lighting, electrical devices, nurse call devices, plumbing fixtures, drains, water systems, mechanical systems, Life safety systems, furnishings, equipment, and the building etc., as well as performing cleaning duties whenever possible.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Notify the Senior Maintenance Person of any abnormal conditions related to the equipment and the building.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as required or deemed necessary by the Senior Maintenance Person for emergency purposes or any other reason.
  • Be on the call as assigned and when on call, carry a beeper and respond to the facility when contacted.
Safety and Sanitation
  • Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance service.
  • Maintain the general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.
  • Report all accidents/incidents, no matter how minor, to your supervisor immediately. (NOTE: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.)
  • Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of workday, etc.
  • Keep your work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to ensure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  • Assure that established Infection Control and Universal Precautions are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with Nursing Services.
  • Must be aware of and follow established fire safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Fire/Disaster Plan.
  • Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.
  • Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious wastes and/or blood/body fluids.
  • Other(s) that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that our facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
Equipment and Supply Functions
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdown to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Assure that maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.
  • Assure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Keep supervisor advised of supply needs.
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
  • Perform a preventive maintenance schedule which includes inspection, adjustment, lubrication, etc., of equipment.
  • Maintain and repair resident related equipment: beds, wheelchairs, etc.
Maintenance Worker Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Previous related work in associated field preferred.
  • Should possess reasonable aptitude/proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, painting, wall repair, and some mechanical and electrical knowledge.
