APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Residential Food Service (Dining Commons) is searching for a full time Deli Worker (University Park) to join their team. Duties include:
•Set up cash register for operation; close out register at day's end and place money in safe, audit monies, take orders, ring up sales
•Operate cash register; make change as required, clear cash register date sales tapes
•Close and lock snack bar at end of business
•Check, stock, and rotate supplies, food stuffs, and products in cases and display shelves; order supplies as needed
•Assist in taking inventories as required, requisition supplies
•Slice meat, cheese, etc.; stock deli cases as needed
•Serve food as needed, store leftovers properly
•Prepare items for sale such as hot and cold sandwiches, pizza, etc., to customer's order according to prescribed recipes and standard procedures
•Assist in food preparation and set up for catered events
•Operate slicer, pizza ovens, coffee urns, scale, dish washing equipment, soda dispensers, espresso machine, grill fryer, steam table, ice cream machine, etc.
•Ensure that condiment station is set up and that supplies and sanitation of condiment station are maintained including milk, juices, etc.
•Check to ensure an adequate supply of dishes, utensils, items to be served, are maintained
•Clean as well as direct part-time employees in cleaning the food preparation and service areas, dish room, dining areas and the equipment used in these areas
•Clean tables, grills, ice cream machines, etc.
•Sweep and mop floors
•Answer questions for and assist in training part-time employees
•Report the need for maintenance of equipment to the supervisor
Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Over 3 months up to including 12 months of effective experience.
Work Schedule: Multiple shifts available
