Job Description
Summary Works on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. Levels ealth to fine grade specifications.
Mixes concrete.
Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.
Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection.
Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.
Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring.
Demolishes buildings, saws lumber, dismantles forms, removes projections from concrete, mounts pipe hangers, and cuts and attaches insulating material.
Assist in general site concrete work activities including digging, grubbing, moving forms and reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and clean up
Assist in general building concrete work activities including moving forms and reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and clean up
Assist in general masonry tender work as necessary
Learn rebar sizing, tying, cutting, bending
Learn the proper use, operation and maintenance of company equipment (concrete saw, jackhammer, cut-off saw, concrete buggys, etc.)
Assist in structural steel erection
Perform as a competent helper for general building concrete work activities
Demonstrate knowledge of basic construction materials, fasteners and equipment
Know rebar sizing, tying, cutting, bending
Assist in basic door frame, door, window installations
Assist in metal stud, drywall and ceiling installations
Assist in constructing advanced concrete forming systems
Assist in basic finish carpentry activities
Assist in any specialty construction activities
Perform as a competent helper for basic steel, roofing and siding activities
Perform as a competent helper for basic rough carpentry activities
Perform as a competent helper for basic concrete forming activity Learn, follow and properly use crane signals
Demonstrate the proper use and care of any advanced power tools
Learn proper materials and methods for patching and rubbing of walls
Learn use of basic carpentry, concrete carpentry and steel materials, fasteners and equipment

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100k. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
