What We Are Looking For
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for orientation and training of clinical staff by collaborating with nursing leadership and clinical staff. Maintains, creates, educates staff on evidence based workflows and guidelines in collaboration with nursing leadership. Must be able to work with all levels of staff. Performs other duties as needed as assigned by the Executive Director, Nursing (EDN).
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday | Location: Norton Clinic, San Bernardino, CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Directly responsible for development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of the onboarding process for nursing staff including but not limited to orientation,
training, and competencies. - Researches current practice and incorporates into education for staff.
- Assesses, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive education programs to meet the departmental and staff needs.
- Collects and assesses event data and information related to education and training including identifying trends and deficiencies within the nursing department.
- Works with nursing leadership to ensure all Nursing-Related Policies and Procedures are up to date and in place.
- Works in conjunction with nursing leadership to address/resolve urgent training/educational issues as indicated for clinical staff.
- Works in conjunction with Quality and nursing leadership to standardize workflows related to clinical staff for all Quality metrics including UDS and P4P.
- Travels to clinics regularly and as indicated. Communicates with nursing leadership regarding findings from visits; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.
- Ensures and has oversight of training and completion of required competencies with accurate documentation for all clinical support staff in accordance with SAC Health policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Communicates directly with nursing leadership regarding educational and training needs, policies and procedures, and other clinical workflows.
- Uses critical thinking skills to assess and communicate with nursing leadership, urgent development needs issues as they arise (staffing, patient complaints, medical provider concerns, etc.).
- Oversight of assigned clinical personnel and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required. Master's of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Active, current, and unexpired California Registered Nursing License, current CPR/BLS certification (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program), valid California driver's license, and auto insurance. This position requires completion of American Health Association Instructor certification within six (6) months of hire. As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
- Experience: One (1) year experience in education, teaching or policy development/review AND a minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required. Out-patient clinic experience preferred.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Computer competency, EHR experience preferred. Strong organization skills required.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Professional demeanor in difficult situations. Must be able to foster an environment of learning and mentoring. Ability to build and lead strong teams.
- Essential Mental Abilities: Work independently and in teams. Ability to handle complex issues and make sound decisions.
- Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
