General Definition of Work

Performs work assisting with unskilled laboring and light equipment operation in cleaning and maintenance for residents of RRHA.

This position reports to the Property Manager.

 PAY: $13.59 - $19.03 PER HOUR

Essential Functions

·         Performs general laboring and custodial tasks such as shoveling snow, cutting grass, lawn maintenance, trash pick-up, and cleaning buildings.

·         Performs general landscape and lawn maintenance (mowing, fertilizing, seeding, trimming, weeding etc.).

·         Maintains outdoor basketball courts and playground areas as needed.

·         Drives trucks for the pick-up, hauling, and delivery of housing unit materials, appliances and supplies.

·         Keeps buildings and grounds clean and orderly; sweeps, mops, cleans and waxes floors; dusts, cleans and polishes woodwork and furniture; cleans windows and glass surfaces; moves furniture and equipment, picks up and disposes of trash and debris on the property and surrounding streets; cleans offices, community rooms, common areas, sidewalks, parking lots, and related areas and buildings.

·         Cleans apartment appliances.

·         Paints apartments under general direction of maintenance supervisor or technician.

·         Assists with snow and ice removal and other emergency tasks as essential personnel of the agency during extreme weather events.

·         Performs related manual laboring tasks such as moving furniture to assist with tenant evictions, sweeping floors, washing windows and cleaning vacant housing units, etc.

·         Assists maintenance technicians in the general construction, maintenance and repair of facilities and grounds as required.


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and minimal years of experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience in janitorial/maintenance work.

Diploma or current student in good standing in a related Vocational School program.

 

Special Qualifications

Valid state identification or driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
