Under supervision, the Apprentice Ironworker is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron and steel erection and completing the tasks in a timely, quality manner while learning trade and practicing/studying to become Journeyman level. Required Skills Ability to meet physical requirements of job i.e. working at heights up to 60', long periods of standing, walking, bending, climbing, welding, using hand tools, wearing safety harness and tool belt, exposure to weather, etc. Required Experience Unloading, shake-out and erection of structural and miscellaneous iron from trucks to designated areas and/or from one area to another. Bolt-up columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors. Detail Work may include installing angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers; installing safety cable and safety posts; or shaking out and spreading joists and long spans. Laying deck and welding with Tek Screws. Pull, push, or pry structural-steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place.
