Summary

The Consultant/Engineer role is a highly skilled and experienced Security Consultant with expertise in designing comprehensive security solutions for a wide range of clients and industries. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices, coupled with a proven track record of designing and implementing effective security strategies. The Security Consultant will collaborate closely with clients to assess their security needs, develop tailored solutions, and oversee the implementation process to ensure successful outcomes.

The candidate should be experienced with the traditional Architecture/Engineering deliverable schedules, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration and the level of detail required for the design during each phase. Delivering mid to large-size projects that may span multiple disciplines including security electronics, telecommunications, audiovisual and fire alarm.

Job Duties

  • Design comprehensive security solutions that integrate physical security, access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Develop detailed security design documentation, including system specifications, architectural drawings, schematics, and installation plans, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for client projects.
    • Understanding of Master Format CSI specifications and ability to write new content as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, security requirements, and budgetary constraints, providing expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with consultants within our client environment to develop design standards, evaluate costs, risk, and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.
  • Facilitate effective project team and cross-functional interactions (Technical, Operations, BD, Marketing, etc.) by working successfully as a part of a team and business functions to achieve positive results.
  • Participate in maintenance of the clients’ Basis of Design, prototype design, and specifications for physical security elements.
  • Communication and record keeping of project decisions and directives in both written and verbal formats. Maintain project repository of documentation in a consistent and comprehensive project delivery method.
  • Support business growth through pursuit of new work; and, by providing technical content to new business proposal and firm qualification packages.
  • Attend industry events to expand brand awareness.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Engineering or equivalent education/experience preferred.
  • Four (4) to eight (8) years of experience in identifying low voltage technology solutions primarily expertise in security electronics and applying into a typical AEC industry design package.
  • Strong technical proficiency in security technologies, including access control systems, video surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Ability to deliver system designs using an engineering approach to produce a well-coordinated set of construction documents within the project budget.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines within budget constraints.
  • Ability to effectively understand client needs and develop appropriate solutions that meet operational intent and budget parameters.
  • Follow processes, continually seek to make processes more efficient, enforce processes, and conduct root cause analyses that lead to the update or creation of processes.
  • Experience using Bluebeam, Salesforce, Smartsheet and MS 365 as core software programs used in the role, knowledge preferable.
  • Understanding of building info ration modelling (BIM) and value of infrastructure and other disciplines coordination in the model.

Travel

Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., but client expectations sometimes necessitate working outside of traditional business hours.

The base annual salary range offered for this position is based on numerous factors, including job-related skills and knowledge, experience, specific location, relevant education and/or training. In addition to the annual salary, we offer a full benefits package.
