Performs network administration functions on the information network infrastructure and monitors network system parameters for proper operation. Maintains the physical and virtual network components and network software. Performs administrative functions such as adding domain users, setting up access rights, etc. Works with vendors in the installation of components and in troubleshooting interfacing and communication problems. Manages hardware and operating system software for all windows-based and Linux-based servers in the server farm which includes hardware installation, operating system installation, database installation, and troubleshooting of server issues. Responsible for the backup of all windows-based servers and databases. Manages servers that are set up in a virtualized environment. Works closely with Service Desk Coordinator and provides guidance in troubleshooting desktop problems. Serves as system administrator for enterprise email and calendar system, enterprise virus/spam protection software, and network management tools. Protects systems from cybersecurity risks, threats and vulnerabilities. Works under the direct guidance of the Information Services Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This is a highly skilled information services position that requires a significant amount of expertise and experience in the hardware and software components of the network infrastructure such as cables, routers, switches, firewalls, modems, and the hardware and operating systems of windows-based servers. The Network Administrator monitors the network traffic and works closely with the vendor in solving physical communication and interfacing problems. Maintains the network software in a virtualized and non-virtualized environment such as Windows and Linux servers, VMware and performs tuning functions on this software. Performs backup on all windows-based and Linux-based servers and databases and monitors systems for security compliance. Performs project management on assigned IT projects as time permits. Listens to the concerns of the user and place emphasis on service to the client user. Troubleshoots problems with both hardware and network software elements and clearly communicates these problems to the Manager of Information Services. Analyze, design, build and configure local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), including installation of network software, firewalls and security settings for all network endpoints to support business growth. The Network Administrator is responsible for the proper operation of all LANs and WANs within the CWW information network and the SCADA network. Works with specific applications as needed during upgrades and installations. Monitor, detect, investigate, analyze and respond to security events. Analyze all attempted or successful network security breaches daily to determine breach cause, resolve related issues and secure network to prevent future infiltration. Configuring and maintain security by using Active Directory, Group Policies, multi-factor authentication, giving guidelines, using XDR, HIDS, etc. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in the Sciences required, preferably in Computer Science or other technically based subject. A minimum of three years experience in some area of computer networking maintenance and administration with strong experience in the hardware component of a LAN and WAN required. Experience in Windows and Linux servers and virtualization software such as VMware preferred with certification from Microsoft. Project management skills preferred. A combination of experience, training and education which provides the acceptable knowledge, skills and abilities may satisfy any of these requirements. Good knowledge of the principals and theory of computer networking which include the concepts of various network protocols such as TCP/IP and a good working knowledge of the physical component of a network such as cabling, routers and bridges required. Ability to troubleshoot network communication problems required. Strong ability to repair PC components and to install client applications programs required. Ability to communicate effectively through various means of correspondence required. Must demonstrate a team work ethic and ability to work effectively with IS staff. Must be able to serve internal and external customers in accordance with CWW values. Must be able to obtain Fort Moore Access required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret operating and maintenance instructions, safety procedures, standard operating procedures, schematic drawings, etc. Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers or the general public. Must possess good customer service skills and oral and written communication skills. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Drivers License and good driving record. Certifications pertaining to Information Technology.
