In this role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of key financial reporting systems that drive business decisions.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a
Senior Cognos Developer
with
7-10 years of experience
to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining
Cognos Framework Manager (FM) models
and
Cognos Analytics reports , ensuring high-quality deliverables and optimal performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support financial reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all systems.
Key Responsibilities: Design, Develop, and Maintain
Cognos FM Models and Reports to support financial reporting needs. Implement best practices
in Cognos model design and development to ensure high-quality deliverables and ease of maintenance. Write complex SQL queries , involving multi-table joins and large datasets, preferably against
Snowflake
databases. Validate results
against Cognos packages and reports to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders
to gather requirements and ensure that reporting systems meet business needs. Assess the impact of new requirements
and modifications on existing Cognos FM models and reports. Perform routine data validation
and quality checks to ensure data integrity and accuracy in all Cognos packages and reports. Coordinate deployment
of Cognos packages and reports through development, QA, and production environments. Ensure
role-based data-level and folder-level security
are implemented correctly, adding security where necessary. Troubleshoot and resolve
issues related to Cognos models and reports in a timely manner. Optimize Cognos models and reports
for performance, ensuring fast and accurate reporting. Document details
related to Cognos models, reports, and security for future reference and compliance. Required Qualifications & Skills:
7-10 years of experience
with
Cognos 11.x ,
Cognos Framework Manager (FM) , and
Cognos Analytics . Proficiency in SQL
with the ability to write complex queries, including multi-table joins and large datasets (experience with
Snowflake
is preferred). Experience in Finance domain
with expertise in financial modeling and reporting. Strong problem-solving skills
and the ability to troubleshoot Cognos models and reports. Experience working in an
Agile environment , delivering reports and models within sprint timelines. Cognos BI/Analytics Certification
is preferred but not required. Excellent
communication skills , with the ability to collaborate effectively with business analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders. Attention to detail
and a strong understanding of
data quality ,
security , and
validation processes . Preferred Skills & Experience:
Familiarity with
Tableau
or similar visualization tools is a plus. Experience with
role-based security
for Cognos reports and models. Knowledge of
Snowflake
and other cloud-based data technologies. Ability to work
independently
while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $67 to $72. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
