We’re seeking an Aquatics Director to oversee our dynamic aquatic programs!
Job Description
Under the direction of the Branch Director the Aquatic Director supervises and leads the aquatics department and administers aquatics programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and 2+ years supervisory experience OR minimum of 3 years of progressive experience required. Current Lifeguard Certification and current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification, (YSL) or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, (WSI) preferred; certifications required within 60 days of hire. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Valid Driver’s License.
Essential Functions
Ensures programs and services meet community needs include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Recruits and hires diverse staff and onboards and develops them for success; reviews and evaluates performance; conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings; ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs; securing and scheduling the pool facilities; and creating and scheduling aquatic and safety related classes. Assists with program operations and logistics such as software registration issues, transferring of classes and program guide meetings. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events. Ensures quality and safety within the program. Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, volunteers, staff, and communities we serve. Provides 20 hours of direct service per week; conducts aquatic staff in-services for Lifeguards and Swim Instructors. Performs other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS:
1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year
2. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification every two years
