Job Description
As our business growth continues, CorVel has established the need for a Business Analyst on the CorVel Business Operations Team (BOT). The BOT team is responsible for documenting and implementing workflows and automation for a variety of proprietary system applications including CorVel’s Claims Management, CareMC and MedCheck systems and related modules. In this role, you will be working with both business stakeholders and software engineering teams to define requirements, create solutions, and automate multiple business processes within the system. The ideal candidate will be analytical, possess a keen attention to detail, and have organizational skills, along with technical abilities to produce quality products under tight and strict deadlines.
Description:
This position requires an individual who has current expertise within CorVel’s proprietary systems and related product lines. As a member of the Business Operations Team the candidate will be asked to utilize expertise in a particular product line, but not be limited to projects in that particular area, and frequently collaborate with various subject-matter experts.
The position requires excellent listening and problem-solving attributes in addition to effective communication skills. The ability to evaluate alternative options and make decisions is a necessary attribute.
The position requires the individual work in conjunction with CorVel management and field operations to develop consistent enterprise-wide workflow processes. The candidate will translate the consistent workflow processes into business requirements that can be developed into software applications through daily collaboration with the CorVel development team.
This is a hybrid role and can be located at any CorVel office.
Major responsibilities include:
- Work with team members, software engineers, and business stakeholders to gain expertise with bill review applications and how these function in our production environments.
- Interact with business users, software engineers, technical staff and state experts to help identify, analyze, and implement enhancements as they are requested.
- Work with business stakeholders to determine new opportunities for automation and increased quality controls in our core products. Follow team protocol for updating, recording and organizing documentation.
- Apply process and system knowledge to diagnose and resolve complex business problems.
- Follow established escalation protocol when issues arise that may cause backlog of release expectations.
- Acquire extensive business and system knowledge.

- Identify, document, and communicate all issues discovered in the course of analysis/project research.

Required:
- 5+ years of work experience in healthcare or medical/pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience with broad-based, ancillary or PBM networks and their applications.
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and technical aptitude.
- Exposure to application development and project management fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to produce consistent, quality work under deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel, including the ability to relay complex ideas in simple terms.
- Effective quantitative, analytical and interpretive skills.
- Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Project and Visio are a plus.
- Experience with Teams, Webex, Zoom or other similar videoconference applications is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Expertise with the CorVel’s claim system is preferred.
- Experience with medical bill processing including CPT, ICD, HCPCS, NCPDP and RBRVS coding schemas.
- Experience with PPO network development, implementation, operations, or technology concepts or equivalent.
- Health industry and/or insurance billing experience a plus. Property & Casualty work experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with project management best practices and the creation of workflow documentation.
- Experience with Power BI is a plus or other similar reporting/analytic tools.
PAY RANGE:
CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.
For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
Pay Range: $66,959 – $102,384
