Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer Location: Michigan Duration: 12 weeks Job Description: Responsibilities Security Testing & Assessment - Perform security assessments and penetration testing on telematics boxes, including firmware, software, hardware interfaces, and communication protocols. - Identify, exploit, and document security vulnerabilities, including those related to wireless communication (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi), CAN bus, GPS, and cellular networks. - Conduct vulnerability analysis of embedded systems, including reverse engineering - Simulate and assess potential attack vectors such as spoofing, tampering, information disclosure, and denial of service (DoS). - Regulatory Compliance: - Ensure that security testing is aligned with automotive industry standards such as ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29, and AUTOSAR. - Provide recommendations for meeting regulatory requirements and improving overall system security. - Reporting & Documentation: - Prepare detailed reports of findings, including risk assessments, security vulnerabilities, and recommended remediation steps. - Work closely with development and engineering teams to prioritize and remediate identified vulnerabilities. - Document testing methodologies, tools used, and results for future reference and continuous improvement. - Experience: - 3 years of experience in penetration testing, preferably in the automotive or embedded systems industry. - Strong understanding of embedded systems, including hardware, firmware, and software components. - Technical Skills: - Proficiency in using penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, Wireshark, Nmap, and CANalyzer. - Experience with reverse engineering tools like Ghidra or IDA Pro. - Familiarity with automotive-specific protocols and tools (e.g., CAN, LIN, UDS, J1939). - Experience with wireless security testing (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3GPP). - Regulations & Standards Knowledge: - Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434 (Road vehicles - Cybersecurity engineering). - Familiarity with UNECE WP.29 cybersecurity regulations. - Certifications (Preferred): - CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) - OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) - GIAC GPEN (Penetration Tester) - Automotive Cybersecurity certification - Soft Skills: - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
