The opportunity: URUS is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its corporate finance team. The core mission would be to manage the tax reporting process in the United States for our current six reporting entities. This role would have access to extensive support and resources from tax experts at Pon Holdings as well as with multiple third-party advisors and preparers we engage with. This role is for someone who loves the complexities of the US tax code and enjoys the fulfilment that comes with navigating these complexities and creating a final product that balances compliance with corporate goals. Ideal candidate: Licensed Certified Public Accountant URUS values the accomplishment and knowledge that comes from becoming licensed and believes this is an important baseline for being successful in this role. Furthermore interactions with taxing authorities is more efficient with a licensed CPA. Has career relevant experience of 8-10 years URUS has a complex legal and tax structure that will demand a strong baseline knowledge of taxation to be successful in this role. Experience working in public accounting We believe this is important because the experience of working for accounting firms is unique and with this knowledge you are better equipped to speak the same language as our third-party preparers driving efficiency in preparation of returns. Knowledge of the nuanced differences between how partnerships, corporations, and disregarded entities are taxed. This is important because of the six returns filed in the US they are a mix of entity types, and it is critical to have knowledge of the uniqueness of each type of entity. Has the ability, and enjoys tax research We are a constantly evolving organization and with every move we need this role to consider the tax implications of these actions in connection with third-party experts and advise our executive team of the findings. Has state tax knowledge. URUS and related entities operate in nearly every US state, making state tax knowledge an important aspect of this role. Knowledge of Uniform Capitalization rules URUS by and large is made up of manufacturing entities with three of our six returns containing UNICAP adjustments. Has knowledge of, and interest in, international reporting requirements inside the US. Within URUS we have reporting requirements for GILTI, Forms 5471, Forms 8858, BEAT, 1042 filings, FinCEN/FBAR. Understands deferred tax schedules. Naturally an organization of our size maintains a handful of deferred tax schedules. Has knowledge of informational returns. Though this role would not be responsible for filing informational returns such as the 1099, this role would be a resource for our operating entities when unique situations arise. Knowledge of how to communicate with taxing authorities efficiently and effectively. Anyone who has worked in tax compliance knows that with state filings come state letters. This role will need to be able to sort through state tax notices and address and resolve issues as needed. Additionally having the ability to determine what notices should be resolved internally and what notices are best handled by third-party tax preparers. Manage the annual tax filing process in tandem with third-party preparers. Workpaper preparation Update consolidated trial balances from Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) Roll forward subsidiary book-tax workpapers and coordinate their timely completion. Roll forward equity movement schedules. Roll forward international workpapers (HFM driven) Book-tax differences Maximum borrowed/loaned Schedule M Quarterly trial balances UNICAP Master book/tax Investment in subsidiaries (HFM) M-3 / income-loss non-includible reconciliation Review draft returns and advise leadership once they are deemed final, obtain signatures. Calculate, file, and pay quarterly estimates for both state and federal taxing authorities. Maintain reconciliation of these payments. Manage state and federal tax notices. Prepare quarterly and annual tax reconciliations in HFM Calculation of annual dividends required to cover tax liabilities for pass-through entities. Assist in determination of tax implications of M&A activities. Be the first stop resource for operating entity tax questions. Though travel for this position would not be a core element, there would be encouraged opportunities to occasionally meet with sub-holding entities and tax leadership in the US and Netherlands.
