Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
This position is an engineering track position responsible for applying and learning engineering design methodologies, using in-house engineering software, performing engineering design for components and connections, and 3D finite element modeling of components and structures under the guidance of senior staff. The role involves document preparation in both CAD and BIM environments and managing staff to successfully perform assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
The team serves markets in Illinois, southern Wisconsin, eastern Indiana, and sometimes western Iowa. The company follows a fiscal calendar year, with reviews and year-end bonuses in September, and offers a 10-15% bonus based on company performance, $5,000 in tuition reimbursement, and 3 weeks of PTO plus 8 holidays. Initially, the role will be 100% in-office, but will allow for 2 remote days once approved by the manager. The company is financially sound and has opportunities due to growth in the data center sector.

Job Description
This position is an engineering track position responsible for applying and learning engineering design methodologies, using in-house engineering software, performing engineering design for components and connections, and 3D finite element modeling of components and structures under the guidance of senior staff. The role involves document preparation in both CAD and BIM environments and managing staff to successfully perform assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all work in accordance with approved office processes, formats, and standards.
- Define design and documentation tasks required to design a simple building and its components under the direction of senior engineering staff.
- Perform engineering analyses and calculations for assigned tasks and projects.
- Prepare required documents in CAD and BIM format for assigned tasks and projects.
- Perform 3D finite element analysis and design under the direction of senior engineering staff.
- Complete tasks accurately and on time with necessary guidance, and proactively seek advice on tasks as needed.
- Meet task and project deadlines and adhere to budgeted hours.
- Volunteer to work additional hours to assist others in meeting deadlines.
- Manage other staff members when assigned as a Task Leader.
- Participate in activities within and outside the office to increase personal engineering capabilities.
- Attend external and in-house seminars and training sessions.
- Contribute to the development of in-house design templates, checklists, and standards.
- Coach and mentor junior staff as appropriate and required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in BIM, CAD, Revit, and finite element analysis.
- Experience with structural engineering, structural design, and construction documentation.
- Knowledge of structural steel, precast, and concrete design.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering. Master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of diverse project experience in the design of buildings.
- Experience in precast prestressed concrete design is a plus.
- Experience with Risa, TEDDS, and LEC Wall.
- Familiarity with drafting and shop drawings.
- Civil engineering and design knowledge.
- Coaching and mentoring skills.
- Ability to participate in the development of design templates and standards.
