Carpenter Laborer

Brookline's Department of Public Works (DPW) seeks a Carpenter Laborer to perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry and manual labor for the Water and Sewer Division; other related work, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma; additional technical training in carpentry; three to five years of experience performing rough and finished carpentry work; experience working on a range of projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid MA Driver's License, Class D
Duties:
- Provide a range of carpentry work, including building, repairing and replacing tool boxes and storage units for large construction equipment; supply blocking and wedges used for laying out water pipes; build cabinets; provide upkeep of any carpentry or hardware in facilities, such as the garage, buildings, and pump stations; perform painting and refinishing work as necessary; perform a range of other work, as needed.
- Order lumber, hardware and supplies for projects; keep shop organized and ensure that tools are in proper working order.
- Construct or remodel rooms in town buildings; build, assemble and install office furniture, counter tops and cabinets; build barricades.
- During snow and ice emergencies, drive sanders, plows, and front-end loaders, remove snow and ice, and sand streets.
- Perform similar or related work as required, or as situation dictates.
Starting salary $28.29 per hour per hour plus generous benefits and excellent working conditions. Position open until filled.
