Job Summary

Job Overview:

The Painter is responsible for performing high-quality painting and finishing work across multiple hospital locations. This role requires expertise in preparing, painting, and finishing surfaces, including walls, ceilings, and trim, while adhering to hospital safety, hygiene, and infection control standards. The Painter will work closely with the facilities team, including carpenters, maintenance technicians, and superintendents, to ensure that all painting projects are completed on time, with minimal disruption to hospital operations. This position involves the use of technology for managing work orders and requires excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the Superintendent, Program Manager, team members, and hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation and Painting:

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and priming as necessary to achieve a smooth finish.

Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and other surfaces within the hospital.

Select appropriate paints and coatings based on the surface type, location, and hospital standards, ensuring the use of low-VOC and environmentally safe products when required.

Mix and match paint colors to achieve the desired shade, ensuring consistency across areas.

Quality Control and Finishing:

Perform finishing work with attention to detail, ensuring that all painted surfaces are smooth, free of defects, and meet high-quality standards.

Inspect completed work to ensure it meets hospital specifications and aesthetic requirements.

Repair and touch-up surfaces as needed to maintain the appearance of high-traffic areas such as patient rooms, hallways, and common spaces.

Must has proficiency in caulking and sealing methods of fit and finish.

Capable to patching and repair damaged areas of drywall, which include walls and hard ceilings.

Project Management and Work Order Completion:

Review and prioritize painting work orders using facility management software, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Coordinate with superintendents and other team members to schedule painting projects around hospital activities, minimizing disruption to patients, staff, and operations.

Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and time spent on each project, using digital platforms as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional painting experience, with a strong preference for experience in healthcare, institutional, or commercial settings.

Skills:

Proficiency in a variety of painting techniques, including brushing, rolling, and spraying.

Strong knowledge of surface preparation methods and paint application processes.

Ability to mix colors and match existing paint finishes with precision.

Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to manage multiple projects and work orders simultaneously.

Certifications:

OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

Infection control certification (such as ICRA) is a plus.
